InQuizitor Case Study
GCSE Geography Revision
Egglescliffe School
Egglescliffe School is a mixed 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school of 1400 pupils. It has recently been awarded the status of High Performing Specialist School for its first specialism in Performing Arts and is now bidding for a second specialism in Science. It is situated to the south east of Stockton-On-Tees.
The school has been using InQuizitor since late 2006.
The Objective
To achieve reliable recall of theory and evidence relating to the Plate Tectonics topic in GCSE Geography.
How InQuizitor Was Used
InQuizitor was used as a private study tool following a "quick introduction" in class.
A Question Bank of 30 questions was set up to populate shorter Quizzes with a degree of randomisation and unique content each time the Quiz was run.
What Happened
Teachers reported a ...
"huge motivational increase in this mainly male group"
... observing the impact of this mode of "competitive revision work".
Next Steps
Having used InQuizitor successfully with this group of learners on the first part of this Geography topic, the department will now expand the Question Bank to cover extra material. The trial content they created was mainly text, but they can now justify the extra time to add illustrations as they will be using the content again and again in future.
